When I was in college, LSU, mid '70's, LSU Tiger football stadium was also a dorm, the ceilings in the dorm rooms was the stadium steps and it was not air-conditioned. So in the Louisiana fall heat, when we would stand in line waiting to get into the football games, all of the dorm windows were open, the residents were drunk as shit, smell of weed coming out the windows along with the stereo sounds, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker....Saw a lot of Klipsch speakers in the windows.

It amazes me that you keep putting Cornwalls down for a speaker that is more than twice the cost......We know, you like La Scala speakers better

One thing you can do with these and the right turntable is make a half-speed mastered vinyl copy! If you have a perfect vinyl copy... And want to make that one perfect vinyl transfer... doing this at half speed will get you the best result you've ever heard from vinyl. For instance, there are some transients in vinyl. That really can't be reproduced at full speed! The pressing machine can make these sounds... But they are sounds that cannot be physically reproduced fully. There used to be the test of all great turntables, the cannons firing in the 1812 Overture. Most turntables couldn't track it. It was a ridiculous and huge groove with a nearly lateral-looking transient you could see with the naked eye! There were some turntables that could reproduce this with some tweaking, but not many. And those that could, had the problem of overmodulating every piece of gear in their system! But if you were to record this at half speed, It would be easy to track and you would get the entire signal with no tracking errors. And every vinyl disk has this potential for tracking problems on a smaller level, but also to have them eliminated through this method.

Those holes in the wood for the main subwoofer look scary. Looks like things might get loose in short order. They all look “broken” and not very strong.

Very interesting demo. I played this loud on my Khorns I bought back in 1978. I really enjoyed the bass response on the Jubilees, maybe a bit overly emphasized, but hey. The LaScalas as always were crystal clear surgically precise. The Khorns sounded a bit bright, probably because they were not in corners. The Cornwalls a bit less defined on the bass. Great choice of source for the demo!

I loved your review of all the technical differences between the SL1000R and 1200G but I was looking forward to your assessment of how all these differences impacted the sound between the two units. Does the SL1000R sound night and day better than the 1200G and in what ways does it sound different? Also you mentioned installing cartridges provided by customers. Do you do the same for tonearms? I did learn a lot from your review. You cover things I’ve never seen anybody else mention. Nice work!

The Reloop Turn 5 does away with the slider but keeps the strobe and Technics type platter. So, yes you don't have to give up both...

IMO those strobe light markings cheapen the look of the 'table.

Problems... 1st Reflections...Right Speaker next to a glass door. Tv between speakers. Why would you even think about ridiculously priced kimber, considering previous points? Poor advice.

how can one tell the difference between a 4 track machine and a two track machine? in other words, a machine that either record 2 stereo tracks, or 4 mono tracks.... I think they are referred to as either 1/2 or 1/4 machines?

In the times of mega dollar turntables this isn't super expensive and you are getting heirloom quality. I run an Sp10 mk and rate it highly. Sure it's advanced since then this new model and ide buy without question. I can't afford a Dohmann Helix one sadly and that is the best table I've heard to date. You can buy 3 of these beauties for the price of a Helix One. Value for what you get.

I love the pitch adjuster! That's the feature that made me get the table. I had a classical record that was recorded off pitch which drove me crazy until I could adjust the table speed. After that, I insist on speed adjusters on every turntable I buy.

Was I supposed to be impressed you own a Rolex? How many Rolex owners are on this planet? As soon as I heard the intro, I stopped the video.

That double RCA cable with the center ground pin looks like what the SL10 and SL15 turntables used to come with. I’ve been looking for a replacement. I don’t know if I can afford that one though.

What a great review! So much fun to watch! Very professional and impressive. How fun for someone who is both a millionaire and an audiophile nowadays... for a simple modest person like me it seems like a far dream... I have the sl-1210gr and I am extremely happy with it. It is my dream turntable. Also made in japan wich i love very much. Can only think what a feeling it is when the sl-1000 is in your living room...

Each had their own strength. I would probably go with Forte or Cornwall

Technics Borinized EPA arms, EPC205C MK3 & MK4, 300MC, 305MC, 310MC cartridges were ahead of its time compared to European or US made turntable gears. I have owned lots of vintage Japanese turntable accessories and they were unique, innovative and sounded fantastic.

When will there be a clone for 1/10th. of the price?
